Launchwork

SMS opt-in and consent

Last updated August 7, 2026

This page documents how people consent to receive text messages from Launchwork. It exists because consent here is given verbally and in person, so there is no signup form to screenshot.

Launchwork is a private, invite-only tool used by a single household to coordinate one family member’s job search. It has no customers, no public sign-up, and no marketing of any kind. Everyone who receives a message is a named member of that household who is also an account holder in the application.

Opt-in path 1: verbal, with manual entry

A household member gives their own mobile number directly to the account owner, in person or by phone. Before the number is entered, the account owner reads the script below out loud, word for word. The member then agrees out loud. Only after that is the number entered by hand into the members table.

The verbal consent script

This is the exact wording read to every person before their number is added. Version 2026-08-10.

Account owner
“I want to add your mobile number to Launchwork, which is the tool we are using to run the candidate’s job search together. Before I do, I have to tell you what you would be agreeing to.

It will text you reminders about deadlines you personally own in the job search, and anything you text back gets saved into our shared workspace. It does not send anything else, and nothing it sends is promotional.

You will get at most two messages in any week, and never more than one in a day. Most weeks there are none at all.

We do not charge you anything for this. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

You can stop it whenever you want by replying STOP to any message, and it stops right away. Reply START if you want it back on, or HELP to get a description of the program and an address to reach me at. You can also just tell me to delete your number and I will.

The privacy policy is at https://groundwork-henna-nine.vercel.app/privacy and the terms are at https://groundwork-henna-nine.vercel.app/terms.

Do you agree to receive these text messages at this number?”

Household member
“Yes, I agree.”

Account owner
“Thank you. What is the number?”

Consent is never bundled with anything else, and it is never assumed from the fact that somebody has an account. A member who does not answer yes does not get a number entered, and they keep full use of the application without it. Nobody is asked twice in the same conversation.

How the consent is recorded and stored

When the account owner enters the number, the same database row records four things about the consent that was just given: the date and time it was given, the method (verbal, or by inbound text under path 2 below), the version of the script that was read aloud, and which account holder took it. Those fields sit on the member record next to the number itself, under the same row-level security as every other table here, so a request without a valid household session returns nothing.

Storing the script version alongside the date is the point of it. It means a consent record from any given day can be resolved back to the exact wording that was read on that day, rather than to whatever this page happens to say later.

How to opt out after agreeing

Agreeing out loud does not lock anybody in. Reply STOP to any message and messages stop immediately, at which point the member is marked opted out and the system will not compose anything further to them. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP for a description of the program and a contact address. A member may also ask the account owner to delete their number entirely, in person or by any other means, and it is removed.

Opt-in path 2: member-initiated by text

A member who already knows the program number may simply text it first. Their number is already on the household allowlist. The system replies confirming that the message was saved, and replies to HELP with the full program description. This is recorded as consent by inbound text rather than verbal consent, on the same member record.

How numbers are obtained

Only the two ways above. No number is ever purchased, rented, imported, appended, or obtained from any third party or list. There is no web form anywhere in this application that collects a phone number. Numbers belong exclusively to members of the one household that uses this tool.

What is sent

“Offer decision is due Friday. Nothing has been logged on it since last week.”
“Added Sarah Chen. https://groundwork-henna-nine.vercel.app/people/8f3a2c

Only two kinds of message. A reminder about a dated, consequential item the recipient personally owns, and a confirmation that something they texted in was saved. No promotional or marketing content is ever sent, and the frequency limit is enforced by the system rather than left to judgement.

Non-sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Numbers are never sold or rented to anyone, for any purpose.
